Welcome to Bishop Auckland Table Tennis Club, Table Tennis England Club of the Year 2016 and County Durham Junior Sports Club of the Year 2016.

Bishop Auckland Table Tennis Club are County Durham's Premier table tennis club and hold Sport England's Club Mark Accreditation and 4 Star Ability Status from Table Tennis England.

Located in Bishop Barrington School in Bishop Auckland the club is a community hub which is fully accessible and boasts Olympic Table Tennis flooring and 12 Olympic standard tables including wheelchair friendly tables.

The club is open to everyone regardless of age, background, gender or sporting ability.

Bishop Auckland Table Tennis Club delivers safe and organised table tennis sessions to over 350 people a week from all walks of life. The club offers everyone in the community an opportunity to be involved as a player, coach, volunteer or official.

BATTC sessions include:

  • Over 50s
  • Open sessions for adults (social play or more formal coaching if required)
  • Women and girls sessions
  • Disabled players sessions

Bishop Auckland Table Tennis Club run a number of highly successful junior coaching programme(s) for those wanting to be more competitive. The club has a growing reputation of producing nationally ranked players through its Beginners, Futures and Top Squad programmes for the keen and talented young players.

All of our sessions are run by qualified experienced coaches, all of which have DBS.

BATTC provide competitive pathways too, with teams in the Local, National and British Leagues.

We run a volunteer training programme providing the opportunity to gain formal qualifications to aid the individual as well as the club. BATTC have funded over 17 local volunteers to become qualified coaches and umpires

Table Tennis is an inclusive sport, meaning anyone can play, regardless of their ability or need and there is the opportunity to play with anyone.

BATTC offer pathways for whatever you wish to achieve within table tennis, from getting into shape and making new friends through to competing at a high level.

Our club aims to bring people together from across a mixture of backgrounds and ages though a shared interest developing individuals. BATTC use sport to break down barriers, such as anti-social behaviour and increase community cohesion by developing friendships and shared goals.

Sessions are run in a way which teaches:

  • Respect
  • Understanding
  • Importance of diet and exercise
  • Social interaction
  • Promoting personal improvement
  • Self-esteem and self-worth

Bishop Auckland Table Tennis Club is proud to have ongoing relationships with sponsors such as the German manufacturer Tibhar and their UK agent Bribar.

In 2013 the club was awarded Durham Dales Junior Sports Club of the Year before going on to win County Durham Junior Club of the Year. In 2014 we were runners up at the Northern Echo Local Heroes Awards. In 2016 BATTC won the Junior Sports Club of the Year - Mid and Durham Dales, County Durham Junior Club of the Year and Table Tennis England National Club of the Year.

BATTC have won:

  • The National Junior League (2016 and 2017)
  • National Cadet League (2014 and 2016)
  • Junior British League Girls Division 3 (2017)
  • Hundreds of National Singles Events as well as County School Titles
