The 3rd set of British league matches took place on the 15th of feb, The A team were playing down in Nottingham and were without a few of the team players, which meant Jake Haygarth move up into the 1st with Lee Tinkler, Jamie Lupton and Dan Dodds. The first match saw a narrow 5-4 loss to Halton II. The match started well with Lee Jamie and Dan all picking up wins to go 3-0 up before Halton took the next 5 on the bounce and the win before Jake took a win to make it 5-4. The next match was a 7-2 loss to sycamore III. Again the match started well with things tied 2-2 going into the doubles, unfortunately from there Sycamore pulled away to win the match.
The B team playing at Middlesbrough, sat in tied 3rd place going into the day picked up two wins to keep the promotion chase alive, but not without some drama. The fist match saw a 7-2 victory over Cliffedale chandlers with Luke Mitchell and Adam Dennison both picking up 2 wins each and combining for a win in the doubles with Jamie Collins and Ben Mold 1 win each. The next match was against North Ayrshire III who in the round before scored a great win over 2nd place Shy Ling to help with our promotion push. The match didn’t go to plan, Jamie Collins and Ben lost there first matches with Adam and Luke winning theirs to go into the doubles at 2-2 with Bishop losing the doubles and Jamie his second singles to put the team 4-2 and only 1 loss away from defeat but Luke stepped up with a 3-1 win before Adam Dennison fought for a 3-2 win to even the match up. In a common occurrence this season the match hung on 12-year-old Ben Mold. The first end looked like the pressure was getting to him going 7-3 down before pulling it back to win 11-7, before losing the 2nd, winning the 3rd and losing the 4th set, to set up a 5th set showdown for the win. At 3-0 down Ben called a time out and a few quick words and Ben showed his mental steel and won 11-7 to take the game.
